WORSHIP SERVICES

COVID-19 Update: On May 18, Governor Charlie Baker released guidance that allows for the reopening of churches and houses of worship across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

While our church council team works on a re-opening strategy, we will continue to hold worship services virtually. Our goal is to open as soon as possible, but with a plan in place to comply with guidelines and also to consider the good health and safety of all members.

You are invited to join us for a live virtual worship service on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. on Facebook Live.

Or watch services on our YouTube channel any time.

(Though in-person worship services and programs are canceled due to the Coronavirus, they are listed below for your information.)

Restore, Renew, Rejoice this Second...

Dear Second Church Members and Friends,

We are writing to you primarily to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to you for your continued faithfulness and support to Second Church of Plymouth. We are sure that you would agree with us that 2020 has been a year unlike any we have ever had. When we reflect back over the past twelve months, we are reminded of how much God has been able to accomplish through all of us amidst a nationwide pandemic where so many churches have been negatively impacted.

Specifically, we have broken ground on what we believe is the start of an amazing and optimistic future!

All of the successes would not be possible without the faithfulness and generosity of our church family and friends. Thank you all so much! Through all of your generosity, our financial position has been strengthened and continues to improve. We are hopeful that we will soon be approaching a point where we can begin the search for a settled pastor.

The second point of this letter is to inform you that we will be starting our annual Stewardship drive Sunday, September 27, 2020. We will have reminders and Stewardship moments during our virtual services on Sundays and we would just like to ask that you pray about continuing to support our wonderful, beloved, Second Church of Plymouth so that we may continue to “Restore, Renew, Rejoice this Second….”.

Should you feel moved by the Spirit to continue to support the church financially, please digitally submit a pledge.

Thank you for all your effort. Take Care and Stay Well,

Bill Dyer - Temp Moderator

Laurie Savery - Stewardship Committee Chair

Things that cause optimism!

Sketch Arrow 2

1.

The old elevator has been removed and the new elevator enclosure is just about completed and the elevator should be installed and operational before Thanksgiving.

2.

The altar in the sanctuary is currently being renovated to widen the altar, remove the choir benches, and support the expanded praise team.

3.

We have installed two 65” televisions to help the congregation follow along during worship services, thus eliminating the need for hymnals and bulletins. (This is to ensure compliance with COVID protocols).

4.

We are in the planning stages of constructing an audio/video control booth that will support our growing virtual service capabilities.

5.

We had a successful Vendor/Craft fair in August 2020 that raised approximately $1,100 for the church.

GOD IS STILL SPEAKING

Under one collective identity, we can enthusiastically lift up that the United Church of Christ is a welcoming,

justice-minded Christian community. At a time when religion is too often portrayed as narrow-minded and exclusive,

many are raising their VOICES for an alternate vision:

- Where God is all-loving and inclusive

- Where the Church of Jesus Christ welcomes and accepts everyone as they are

- Where your mind is nourished as much as your soul- Where Jesus the healer meets Jesus the revolutionary

- Where together we grow a just and peaceful world
